Privacy Policy

Last updated October 1, 2026

SlashKey has no accounts, ads, analytics, or typing history. Typed text and saved profile information stay on your device.

Who we are

SlashKey is an iPhone and iPad keyboard operated by the developer of SlashKey. Privacy questions can be sent to outreach@zaffli.com.

Information stored on your device

If you create a profile, SlashKey stores the fields you save—such as a name, email address, phone number, or postal address—in the app's shared local container so the keyboard can insert them. The file is written atomically using iOS complete file protection. Typing preferences are also stored locally.

You can enter profile fields manually or use Apple's system contact picker. When you use the picker, only the contact you select is copied into an editable draft. The profile is not stored until you tap Save. Separately, named commands such as /address John search iPhone Contacts only after you grant Contacts permission and enable keyboard Full Access. Searches run on demand, respect limited access, and do not copy your contact directory or send contact data to a server. You can delete your saved profile at any time from SlashKey → Settings → Your Profile. To change Contacts access, use iOS Settings.

Typed text and keyboard activity

SlashKey processes the text needed to provide keyboard input, suggestions, autocorrection, emoji, and slash commands on your device. SlashKey does not create a typing history, transmit typed text to the developer, or use typed text for advertising, analytics, or model training. After you insert text into another app, that app handles the text under its own privacy practices.

Translation and language features

Translation uses Apple's on-device Translation framework and downloaded Apple language models. Source detection and translation text are processed on your device. SlashKey does not send translation text to a developer-operated server.

Currency conversion

If you run a currency conversion and have enabled Full Access, SlashKey requests the latest published public reference rate from Frankfurter over HTTPS. The request contains only the source and target currency codes. The amount, profile, surrounding text, and device identifiers are not added to the request by SlashKey; the calculation happens on your device.

Frankfurter states that its public API does not collect or log personal data, IP addresses, or request URLs, and that the infrastructure provides aggregate traffic statistics. Its current statement is available on the linked Frankfurter page. Internet routing and infrastructure are operated by third parties under their own terms.

Full Access

iOS requires the user to grant Allow Full Access before a custom keyboard can use network access and the shared app container. SlashKey uses that access for reading the locally saved profile, looking up permitted Contacts when you submit a named contact command, and requesting currency rates. Named contact lookup also requires separate Contacts permission. Core keyboard input, local commands, emoji, suggestions, autocorrection, unit conversion, and downloaded on-device translation remain available without Full Access.

Information we do not collect

SlashKey does not operate a user-account or analytics service and does not collect passwords, payment information, precise location, contacts databases, advertising identifiers, crash analytics, typed-text logs, or command history. The app does not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

This website

This website contains static pages and images. It has no account, forms, advertising scripts, analytics scripts, or embedded third-party media. Railway, the website hosting provider, necessarily receives connection information such as your IP address and the requested URL when it serves a page. See Railway's privacy policy for its practices. These website requests are separate from use of the SlashKey keyboard.

Support email

If you email support, your email provider and the recipient's email provider process your address, message, and attachments to deliver and respond to the request. That communication is outside the SlashKey app. Send only the information needed to resolve your issue and avoid including sensitive typed content. Support correspondence may be retained as needed to handle the request and meet legal obligations; you may ask for deletion by emailing the same address, subject to applicable requirements.

Security and retention

Saved profile data remains on your device until you replace it, delete it in the app, or remove the app and its data. SlashKey uses iOS complete file protection for the profile file. Typing preferences remain until changed or the app's data is removed. Currency rates may be cached temporarily in memory for the current app process and day; SlashKey does not maintain a server-side rate or request log.

Children

SlashKey is a general-audience utility and is not directed to children. The app has no account or developer-operated data collection. A parent or guardian with a privacy question may contact the developer.
